Good afternoon, What a week! My classroom was filled with a plethora of incredible characters! Thank you all so much for your incredible efforts. The children had an incredible day and another great opportunity to continue our love of reading at such a young age. I shall start in the middle of the week for change! World Book Day the children celebrated their costumes with the entire school and had some great group themed photographs. We then used these incredible costumes to fuel our writing and talk about our characters. We had to involve our incredible buddies and demonstrate our incredible reading to our buddies. Pendle Class wowed them with their fab phonics and our friends shared a tale with us, a perfect end to a perfect day. On Wednesday we had our Ash Wednesday Mass with Father Sony inside our school hall. Children once again demonstrate their respect and understanding at such an important time of the year for all of us. Continuing with this theme, children created crosses while story sequencing the Easter Story. We then discussed it and made key notes 1-1 and in small groups, reinforcing key aspects of the story. Children reflected on their own lives and thoughts on their own personal achievements, from sport to family and everything in between. For our mathematics children worked on composition and applied it in a multitude of ways. Demonstrating once again their ability to record it. Children worked in groups to test to see how many ways they can make a specific number and then continued to combine, reverse and record it. Additionally, to that plethora of incredible highlights and many more things, we created our own snippet twisted tales. Children tweaked exciting traditional tales with interesting twists. Loads of brilliant twists, but a favourite of mine that I am sure will make you smile at home are the 3 little crocodiles! They built a house of bananas, grapes and jam! Not ideal building materials we can all agree on, but brilliantly unique – just like us! Please may I ask that if you have any recycling materials suitable for junk modelling over the weekend, please may you bring them in on Monday. Children are doing a joint project with Fairsnape involving habitats, more to follow!

With love, Mr McGill
