Out and About!
Feeding of the 5000 day with our Small Schools’ Catholic Cluster.
Mr Gilmour took his Year 2 class to work alongside children from our small school Catholic cluster to engage in activities all about the Feeding the 5000. The children were immersed in drama and music activities and thoroughly enjoyed being with our friends from other small schools.
OLCHS school council visit with other schools-Year 4
Our Eco-Warriors and School Council children (from junior classes) were invited to work with staff and children at Our Lady’s Catholic High School. Mrs Kerr was delighted that she took the children because it was the first trip in our new school minibus! They worked with children from other schools to learn how to improve our school council. It was a great opportunity to learn from our peers and older children, who have different systems to us. The children brought back some super ideas to try out in our school and we are now fully immersed in our next school project-further developing our Millennium Walk for forest school purposes.
Dan Worsley Author Visit
Last week, the children listened to a truly inspirational author. Dan inspired our young readers by telling them all about his journey as an author. He also signed books and led a wonderful workshop for KS2.
First Holy Communion
WW1 day at Barnacre Rd School was absolutely incredible. Our Year 3 children had a wonderful time working with other children from our Longridge cluster school. We thank Mrs Wallis for organising such an enjoyable and educational day. This work is one of the many events that will prepare our children for the Armistice production at Preston Guild Hall in November. All of our current Year 3 children received a letter informing you how you can buy tickets for the event.
Coffee Morning Concert
Cobble Hey trip with Year 5
Year 6 trip to the Archives
Year 6 have been working with visitors from the Goosnargh and Whittingham Heritage Group. They have been learning about the history of our local area and they experienced a wonderful learning opportunity on a visit to the archives.
Tower Wood
Beacon Class were exemplary in their attitude and behaviour. They all had a wonderful time and supported each other during some challenging tasks. Well done! Thank you to all staff, who gave their time freely.
Learning about Refugees and Migrants with CAFOD
KS2 children were split up into several groups and they had to ‘travel’ to different stations around school. The stations all had separate stories about children and families, who had to flee their countries for various reasons. We met Stella, who came here from a different country and the children really engaged in activities that helped us to realise how lucky we are and how we must help others.
The Mayor and BBC North West visit
It was wonderful to celebrate the opening of ‘The Land of Pure Imagination’ with so many of you. Thank you for coming and thank you for always supporting our school developments and events. You can see the video clip of the event on our school website homepage.
We still look forward to our Football and Netball tournaments, Year 4 trip to Blackpool Synagogue, whole school trip to Lytham, Year 5 trip to watch Billy Elliott at OLCHS, Year 6 trips and much more!
Beacon Class are working hard in preparation for their play and we are all very excited to spend time together on 6th July for our Summer Social BBQ. Thank you to the many hands that make lighter work of these events. Your support is always very much appreciated.
