As a Catholic School, it is vital that we teach our children Catholic heritage prayers. Following Fit For Mission: Schools guidance, we regularly evaluate the opportunities we give our children to pray. Daily Prayer and Liturgy opportunities are integral to school life at St.Francis’ and we learn many prayers that make sense to our children in many different contexts. We teach children different prayers as part of our Liturgical year. Children learn to pray the Rosary and we have a wonderful celebration of this at our May Procession. Recently, 1 million children prayed the Rosary and our school took part. Prayer bags are sent home weekly in each class. When a child takes a prayer bag home, it is a wonderful opportunity for families to pray together. These change throughout the Liturgical year.
End of School Day Prayer –we come together as a whole school on the hall at the end of the day and say this prayer
God Our Father, I come to say,
Thank you for your love today,
Thank you for my family and all the friends you give to me.
Guard me in the dark of night,
And in the morning send your light
Amen
The Our Father
Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy kingdom Come.
Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation.
But deliver us from evil.
Amen
Hail Mary
Hail Mary
Full of Grace,
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art Thou among women
And blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death.
Amen
