Celebrating 100 years of Disney
We have had a great time participating in two village field days-Goosnargh and Longridge.
Well done to the amazing Nursery and Pre-School team and all of the supportive parents and children who took part-and won! WELL DONE ALL!
Wow, what a great Longridge Float our PTFA and parents prepared for us. Thank you so much to all who came-it was amazing.
Originally, the idea was for me and Mr Gilmour to both stand inside this giant Mickey Mouse and walk the full way of the float journey together. When Mrs Hamer brought Mickey into school and sat him down in our office, it was quite apparent that this was not a job for two of us (because I could barely lift the 9 ft character). Amazingly, Mr Gilmour danced on the back of the float wearing this for the entire journey. Look closely and you will see the little Woody and Buzz hanging off the back of the truck-such attention to detail-well done and thank you to our creative parents and staff helpers-you are AMAZING! The children all looked absolutely brilliant!
We are very excited to have been judged 2nd place! I, on the other hand had accidentally entered a 16-100yrs fancy dress competition whilst on our way to collect our prize and I was not so lucky! Not knowing what was going on, Mr Gilmour and Mr Swarbrick on the loudspeaker said I need to go onto the field because I will win the adult fancy dress competition as there was only me in it. Off I went but I was soon joined by an inflatable crocodile and what looked like Falkor from The Neverending Story! It turned out that they only announced 1st and 2nd prize for this competition and, as there were only three of us entered, I came last-never mind. Even the kind driver of the truck from Jacksons got into the spirit of things as he tooted the horn and dressed the truck to resemble Cars! He stayed with us all day and did such a great job-we really appreciate the company for giving us this amazing truck and driver for the day.
We thank Amanda Hamer for creating Mickey and being a dedicated float maker over the years, Ruth Pattern for her creative design of the float, Marika Eccles for letting us store the float at her barn, Amy Dewhurst for organising the truck and driver, Amy Dover, Shelley Nuttall, Andrea Hayhurst, Katie Arrowsmith, Harriet O’Sullivan, Jo Forshaw, Amy Turner and Mr Gilmour. All of the parents worked on this float during their own time. We thank them all and thank Mrs Luke, Mrs Holden, Ms O’Kane and the pre-school staff, children and families for supporting our school.
Thank you all!
