Careers Week and Circus School?
Well,
It has been one of the best half terms we have had.
We are partnering up with our friends at Whitechapel Primary School for Longridge Strictly Come Dancing. Yes, that is correct…we are now taking our children ballroom dancing and I’m sure they will love it. Beacon Class children will have the opportunity to learn something new and something a little different. Precision Dance Academy are working with all schools in our Longridge Cluster to teach as many children as they can to ballroom dance.
This all ties in nicely with our constant focus on preparing children for the world and opening their eyes to the possibilities of careers and a world of exciting futures. In the Autumn Term, we won the Primary Futures When I Grow Up competition and KS2 will be having a virtual hour long visit with professionals from varied occupations and we are challenging stereotyping! The children will have to wait and see!
Last week, we invited a wonderful group of parents and friends of school to come in and be part of a Careers Fair in our school hall. Wow, it was amazing. The children were absolutely captivated and they explored a fantastic range of occupations.
Thank you to the adults who gave their time so freely to educate our children- it is greatly appreciated.
The children explored Braille, BAE vocations, bee keeping, farming, gardening, photography, baby swimming, textiles and Street Pastors homeless support.
Have a look at the pictures below…
Children in Fairsnape Class went to UCLAN, as organised by our parent governor Dr Gunn and what an amazing time they had working with around 30 students from the university. The children went orienteering and they were actively taking part in many STEM, team building and sporting activities. The children even received a goody bag and had an ice cream- absolutely fantastic…thank you Dr Gunn and all students at UCLAN.
Still linking with personal development and trying new things, we welcome a circus workshop in school and we will be welcoming them back in the Summer Term to work with all classes.
Our parents had voted for our school to win this amazing opportunity and the three teachers who came were brilliant. The children had a great time and they really made it look easier than it was. Thank you to Premier Dance Academy for linking with us.
