A lovely letter and a new trophy…
I thought I would begin this blog with pictures to enable you all to get a feel for the past week in school. It began with Mr Gilmour telling me that we have received a lovely letter and it’s going to make my day. When I read it, it really did make my day because it highlights the work of our amazing teachers and support staff in our school. The letter is from the Department for Education and it tells us that we our in the top two percent of the country for our phonics results…lovely.
The art work around school has been incredible and Beacon Class have made some beautiful water colour poems for Remembrance. We are taking these two church to display for all to see and reflect upon the meaning of this important day.
The children in all classes have been completing some unbelievable big writes and they just can’t get enough of it. I think we will need more treasury tags as Miss Silvester’s Class have written the longest stories I have ever seen that stretch from the back of the classroom to the door!
Our little ones are thriving and they have been very busy outdoors developing hammer art techniques; I can’t wait to see the finished pieces. On the theme of the arts, we welcomed the Valley Singers choir leaders into school last week and they will continue to teach the children new songs to sing for our collaborative concert which will be held in church on December 5th and involves our school choir…save the date!
Our amazing school council delivered a super assembly about UK Parliament for UK Parliament week and the children explained British Values and democracy very well. We continue to learn about this throughout the year in all classes and this ties in with our Gospel Values and care for all as equals.
This week is Anti-bullying week and we will be linking this with online safety, Beatitudes and our school rules. We will explore kindness and compassion in depth and what it means to look after one another. We are undertaking the Equality Mark for school and hope to gain this award soon.
Our Year 2 boys had a great day at Preston College and they came 2nd in the athletics competition, winning another trophy. Well done boys, you were amazing!
Have a lovely weekend.
